Rob Sand Campaign Launches First Ad of the General Election Highlighting Prosecutor, Auditor Record
“Stealing is Bad” highlights Rob’s record as a public corruption prosecutor, State Auditor
DES MOINES, IA – Today, Rob Sand’s campaign for governor released the first ad of the general election. Titled “Stealing is Bad,” the ad details Rob’s career locking up corrupt public officials as a prosecutor and uncovering a record amount of misspent tax dollars as State Auditor before political insiders worked to strip his office of its power.
The 30-second ad is part of a statewide 6-figure ad buy across all platforms – TV, streaming, and digital – allowing Rob to reach Iowans across the state and of all political stripes. The ad also focuses on one of Rob’s key policy proposals: mandatory jail time for public officials who steal tax dollars, which Rob rolled out in his “Accountability for All” plan earlier this month.
“Whether it was my time spent as Iowa’s chief public corruption prosecutor or as State Auditor, I have spent my career protecting Iowans’ tax dollars from waste, fraud, and abuse and holding powerful insiders accountable. Now, I’m bringing that fight to the governor’s office to bring an end to the decade of one-party rule and sweetheart deals for insiders that have left Iowa families behind,” said candidate for governor Rob Sand. “Our elected officials are focused on all the wrong things – like culture wars and gutting the Auditor’s Office. As Iowa’s next governor, I’ll get back to the basics and make sure Iowans – not insiders, special interest groups, or corrupt politicians – come first.”

“Call me old-fashioned, I’d say stealing is bad.
That’s why I locked up corrupt public officials as a prosecutor.
And as State Auditor, I uncovered record amounts of misspent tax dollars.
Insiders didn’t like that.
So they changed the law to make it harder for me to find your misspent tax money.
That’s bad, too.
As governor, I’ll make jail time mandatory for public officials who misuse your tax dollars.
Because stealing is still bad.
And stealing taxpayers should be unacceptable.”
